Ms. Bassi is a grants and contracts management professional with over of progressive leadership in development programs. Skilled in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in streamlining and improving processes, ensuring regulatory/grant compliance, and developing new tools & procedures.
She holds a BSc in Accountancy from the University of Maiduguri Borno State and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). She is a Project Management for Development Professional (Project – DPro) and has taken courses from the University of Washington, Lagos Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Ms. Bassi’s industry experience cuts across engineering, auditing, management consulting, not-for-profit financial management and grants administration and compliance. She started her career in ABBNG Limited as an Accounts Receivable Officer before joining PricewaterhouseCoopers where she spent 2 years in auditing and public sector financial management and business process reviews. She joined APIN Public Health Initiatives in 2007 as a Senior Finance Officer and switched to Grants Management and Compliance 3 years later as a pioneer staff of the department and became the departmental head in 2012, a position she held for 6 years until she left for a 2years stint in Ghana as an Operations Director. She is currently the Grants and Contracts Manager for Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation (MGIC) an affiliate of the University of Maryland Baltimore.
